Introducing Madison Kayley Stevens

There is this foreign maitenance guy that I have to thank at Methodist Hospital - you see, I was at Matt Johnson's coffee shop, talking it up with the man and picking up some Tenacious D tickets, when I got the call. I knew Hol and Dan were at the hospital and that she had gotten the epidural - but major things were happening and I had to get there.

So I flew down Fleur - rolled into Methodist - and proceeded to run past the maternity ward ending up in the wrong end of the hospital. Frustrated, I grabbed a maitenance man who barely spoke English and urged him to get me to Holly asap!

We went running - using "personell only" doorways to get to the ward.

It - was - awesome.

But I was 5 minutes late. Madison Kayley Stevens arrived at 8:28 (or :27 - I have heard it both ways) to the shock of all! Hol was not even pushing... the doctors - the entire room! - dove to catch Maddy as she came out!!!

Holy Jesus!!!!

Congrats to Dan, Holly, and the entire Findlay clan!!

Uncle Jed has a nice ring to it. I also liked the dramatic buildup to the final moments of the birth, though for some reason when you mentioned people diving for the baby, it reminded me of one of my fave Bill Cosby standup moments when he talks about his wife giving birth and how the doctor is sitting in front of her like Johnny Bench(baseball player?).

Wow. Congrats again, man.

Uncie Jed... frightening.

Heh heh. I fear Megann eventually having a kid. I'm going to end up being weird Uncle Alex, the bizarro bachelor uncle with his obscure record collection and arcane books who the kid doesn't want to hang out with. It's going to be a moot point since she's moving back to Iowa anyhow. You might actually see her at some of the Hawkeye games next year.

They all return Kern... they all return!

The Kerns just cannot quite stay away from the Midwest completely.

I don't know if I mentioned this, but my dad is moving back to Indiana of all places next summer. Back to his old hometown in Fayetteville. It's like fucking Green Acres or something.

Dude - all by your lonesome in Seattle... you need to come home and spoon with the good folks of Des Moines.

Kidding - I don't want to see you in this state boy!

CONGRATULATIONS to the Stevens family (and Uncle Jed I suppose). :)

Jed-Yeah, that's why I'm only allowed to come back for a few days at a time. Much longer than that and I bring down the property value of the entire state.

It is going to be super lonely, though. I've never been without family in the general vicinity.

You wouldn't want to deny yourself the pleasure of a good Kern spoon anyway. Your nether parts never had it so good.

Filth! Filth! Filth!

On second thought, this is a baby thread, pretend that last comment didn't happen. Until Monday.
