Hap hap happy Valentines Day!

I used to hate this day - then I became ambivalent - but a few years ago, I started to like it again. In fact, this morning I delivered four valentines to my special friends... and the dorky fun of it made me giggle whilst doing the Valentines work.

Here's some V-love to my besties the Kreitners - miss you guys today.

Is it wrong for a man to say that he has feelings for another man?

On this day the answer is "perhaps"?

Just kidding. We are thinking of you too today Fino. Have a fun day hopefully a rusty trombone is in your future.

Happy V day. :)

Rusty trombone? Not with my back the way it is...

Josh and Dev got some Jed-V-Day love this morning... but both have gone into hiding since.

Very sad.

Ah yes - she would be lovely to.... injest?

Hmm - not the day to be filthy.

If there was ever a day to be filthy this is it. I wrote a couple of great things at my blog about V-day, speaking of filth. You should check it out.

I'd like to Smurf Jessica Alba out until I sprained my Smurf.

Sweet Valentines' with the GG motif, Fino.

Kern - a couple of things? That wouldn't even get printed in the Times - quite a lengthy diatribe you got yourself there.

You forgot the most important part of Valentine's Day (or else I didn't read far enough to get to it). It's about LOVE -- all LOVE - not just "I want to hump your leg" LOVE.

Case in point: My grandma sent me a valentine this morning with a small amount of cash in it and, trust me, it made my Valentine's Day that much better. OH and my parents made each of their wonderful children (all 4 of us) Valentine's Day gifts full of candy and fun stuff just to remind us that they love us.

So see...it's not that bad of a holiday. Remember --- there are more people out there to love than those who wish to hump your leg.

Ah, see that's the most important part and which is precisely why I saved it for the end.

And I quote:

"My point is this, if society is so concerned about celebrating love, let's do it. What those suckers at Victoria Secret and Hallmark seemed to have forgotten is that just as there are more ice cream flavors than Vanilla, there are also flavors of L-O-V-E than regular old "Romantic". There's Brotherly Love, Maternal/Paternal Love, Platonic Love, Lust, Adoration, the list goes not much further than that, but you get the point."

Which is exactly why I took my friend Sarah to coffee, and got two of my female friends flowers. I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments, it just came later in the piece.

Me love too - type one handed - cheetos loving other hand too much.

Anonymous - don't be a d*ck. Bloggers need love too!

Kern said...

Jed-Is that why you were talking about your wang turning orange?

Damfino said...

Oh - Alex - I did not make the Gilmore stuff (though I wish I could claim the Troubadourable bit) - pulled it from Gilmoregirls.org (thus the insane ad for it all over the post).

Kern said...

Yeah. But it was still nice to post it.

One more note about my diatribe, the main aim of the piece wasn't to say that Valentine's Day is all bad, I just think it's bad the way we think of it. I look at it as a holiday of awesome potential, whereas most people view it as a test or in the case of how I used to be, a very sad and bitter time. But not anymore!

I just read the post Kern... initial reaction;

I think you should try being gay.

Seriously....

And also - anyone who thinks that injesting edible undies off a loved one is not in of itself an act of love - obviously has not done it...

and most taste like fruit roll-ups and I love those!!!

I eat Cheetos with my left hand... I am wang-right - so, no... that is not why it has turned orange.

Kern said...

What part of that article makes you think I should be gay?

All I was trying to get across was that I think the general mindset that most people have is silly. Rather than being a romantic holiday it should be about love in general, which I think is a concept devoid of any sexual orientation one way or the other.

I am starting to think maybe I shouldn't have gotten up at five thirty this morning to rewrite that entire piece. Maybe it's not as coherent as I first imagined it was on three hours of sleep.

Try the filthy hearts instead. Maybe people will like those better.

Does love for comptuers count? How about love for eBay?

*Snicker, snicker.*

Happy Valentine's Day, all! Remember, if you don't have a sig. other to dote upon, there's always self love! (And even some of those who do have an SO (or is it "a SO"?) still must resort to self love...)

Yeah, I'd smurf Ms. Alba in the coono. (That is if I was single...)

I love my computer too. Especially now that it came back from the shop with new implants. I mean upgrades. Heh heh.

By the way Jed, did you get my email about potentially coming the weekend of the 23rd of June? There might be a chance to see Lisa McElroy before she gets married.

Damfino said...

Yar yar... I am having trouble thinking about Thursday let alone the 23rd... should be fine.

Good to see Lisa - wild actually!!

Kern said...

I think it would be cool for sure. Now all I have to do is work on getting Heidi back, and we'd have practically the whole old school crew together again.

Lisa's getting married on the 3rd of July by the way.
