Everything I touch turns to sh*t.

Last night we wrapped up watching Season 1 of The Sopranos - giddy and thrilled with every last drop of its initial year.

Hopefully we shall soon settle in for the second season of the series; a season that I initially thought was the absolute peak of the show - but upon further viewings, felt the quality even out with other years.

To my surprise, Season 3 has started emerging as the high point of the series, creating a build up of story that Season 4 just never seemed to find or live up to (those pesky Russians - I am looking in your direction!!).

Man - I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!!

No spoilers - Devin is walking through this whole experience for the first time ever. We need to get down to business if we are going to pull this off before March 12!!

Yo

BTW DWEEEEEAAAA is coming tonight!!! I gets to watch Gilmore with the old Gilmore Girl herself!!!

YEAH!

Yeah, as much as I am always enamored to see what will happen with the show, I'd be lying if I said that I didn't generally feel like much of it never lived up to Season 1. Season 4 being the weakest.

That doesn't count as a spoiler does it, Jed?

I hope that they continue with that new lunacy they began at the end of GG last week. I think they should start taking a more creatively go for broke approach. The end sequence last week was amazing.

oooh Jed did you DVR last weeks episode????

Oh BC - you are sans last weeks ep? I still have it on the DVR - but view before tonight?!?!? If you show up earlier you can view whilst I cook!!

Kern - your distaste for all except Season 1 is somewhat founded - but questionable.

The show is the b@lls!

And yes - the final sequence of last week really showed how well Gilmore can be done!!!

Let me clarify, I don't hate all but season 1. I just felt none lived up to season 1. There is a slight difference.

I only hate season 4.

Oh, and check out my new TMT review if you have the chance. It makes me feel important to be on a website that gets more than 30 hits a day.

Not that I don't love my blog or anything...

Kern - you need a woman to take up the mind space you use to keep track of how many hits you have a day.

Come on man - go shoot up some smack or something!

Kern said...

Yeah, I think if I had a woman I don't think I'd be trying so hard to put up five articles a week and designing another website to sell a bunch of crap no one really wants to buy.

This is why I so look forward to The Kern Returns, you see. For one night, I'm able to gather a shitload of people and go nuts. You better believe the last thing on my mind will be how many hits my blog is getting while I'm waist deep in beer.

I have not had time to write one up... sorry.

Basic issue is that I did not see these guys fall in love. They were uncomfortable... they were forced to sleep together... they jumped into sex.

Then all of the sudden we see them playing like lovers - rolling around on the ground!

Since I could not jump with them into a love of their passion - the rest of the film rung very sad (which it is... but if you don't believe in the couple - what do you have?).

I found my emotions heading towards anger about the infedelity - rather than empathy about love un-touched. I really felt for Michelle Williams (which you are supposed to) and especially loved the scene where they are making love and she stops him... that was really good.

The movie is really good - but there is baggage. This supposed to be the best of the year... this is supposed to be better than Munich? I am betting you did not even see that film (no one did)... yet Brokeback gets all of the press.

It is a beautiful movie - with perfect bits... but also some flawed scenes (Jack addressing his wife's father at Thanksgiving was a disappointing scene that was there simply for the audience to respond and say "finally!" Not to further anyones character!!!) - I loved the ending... loved seeing Jack's house (his room was stunning!!! The world he pulled his self from !!!!)... loved the final words.

But I guess I could not get my heart into it because I did not see where the passion stemmed.

I think the word film was supposed to be porn in the previous post.

I haven't seen either Brokeback or Munich, but I am trying to work on seeing both. Munich is the one that interests me most, but will be the hardest to work into my schedule due to its length. I am watching Hustle and Flow, Crash and The Constant Gardner this weekend however. Trying to cover as many bases as possible.

Oh I will be there early just to see last weeks episode. Yippee

That kiss was really good - that is where the love seemed to show... but I did not see before where it came from.

I was shocked to see that response from Enis - and hurt to see that he would do that so close to the family he had made.

The film(porn) was beautifully paced - really well shot... that shot of Enis and the fireworks gave me chills...

But nothing compares to what Spielberg achieved in Munich. He makes one little mis-step (that everyone is capitalizing on!!!) in the film - and I don't think it is not totally effective! Spielberg cross cuts the final moments of the captives with a scene... that I won't comment on.

It is aggressive... and not as successful as it should be... but it does not ruin the movie.

I guess that can be argued though - it is pivotal... just as Enis and Jack falling in love was.

Bring on the butter!

It's great. You will not be disappointed I imagine. The previews for this week have me rather on edge, but it's probably another one of those cases in which it looks like something big is going to happen but doesn't.

I hope I'm wrong and it's a dramatic extravaganza worthy of being put on during sweeps!

I am calling this out right now - Rory and Logan will get married and Lor and Luke will not!

Kern said...

Seconded. Especially since Amy made a sly comment about "someone" getting married, which to me was her subtle way of implying that it was not going to be Luke and Lorelai.

Looks like you and I read the same Gilmore Geek info!

Kern said...

Yeah, probably so. I lurve getting the scoop. I think I read from Ausiello in TV Guide. He's obsessed more than we are...
