A long time ago - we used to be friends...

Addictions are a fun past time - and it is always great to drag others down with you as one falls deeper into the sad black realm of uncontrollable needs.

Take for instance my newest addiction, Veronica Mars. I got the DVD set for me birthday and proceeded to jump into it. At the time, Devin had just moved in and was busy doing moving stuff while I sat on my butt watching the discs. Yet, slowly, I could sense he was being pulled in. He started to sit around for eps - often staying up with me well past midnight watching good V fun!

By the time we got to the end of the season - our addiction was very sick and needy! The season ended with a semi-cliffhanger... which led to me reading how the 2nd season started online the next day - and when I got home Devin admitted to doing the same. Devin quickly scanned the internet and found the first 5 episodes of the new season to download! Who the hell can wait a year for more eps!?!?!

The main problem is that UPN is not offered as a local station in the Des Moines (or Iowa!) area. Veronica Mars airs on Wednesdays on UPN... killer. So, what can an addicted person do? Well - add a un-needed package of 6 new channels to your Dish just to have UPN! It is only another $6 a month... for one show... hmmm.

Veronica Mars is actually much better than I expected it to be. The story revolves around young Veronica, a high school private eye who works with her father - a full time private eye. The back story is that V's best friend Lilly was murdered, V's father, once - town sheriff, lost his job for going after Lilly Kane's father (richest dude in town) - she also lost her boyfriend, Duncan Kane, in the process. She kind of helps out mystery type situations... while investigating Lilly's murder along the way.

Early comparisons where being made to Buffy - a series that basically defines what addiction means to me - thusly my expectations were quite high for Veronica. As a matter of fact, I read the Joss Whedon blog (he is the creator of Buffy - and his blog is linked right here on my blog) and a few months back he posted saying he just did a 22 hour marathon of the series... and loved the hell outta it! Buffy similarities are there but the series has its own voice... and humor! I can see why it has become the coolest of the cool as far as low rated shows go.

If you have UPN - shame on you for not watching it yet. If you are with us... "WHO'S YOUR DADDY!!"

I think a humorous quote from the show would be appropriate here...

...so many to choose from...

...oh I got it!

"Come on, everyone! Let's Wang Chung tonight! What? Everybody Wang Chung tonight! Wang Chung or I'll kick your ass!"

I think I'll have to catch up on this series. If for no other reason than I think it couldn't hurt to have one more attractive girl to ogle besides the Gilmores every week.

I have heard this show is way better than people expected and that it's really pretty great. I will attempt to give it a shot.

Jed-Have you tried any more Questionable Content yet? It doesn't really pick up until Faye moves in with Marten. I'm telling you, you want to talk addiction...QC is my new crack.

Not that I had old crack, really. You know what I mean.

"Mr. Echolls. I was wondering if I could have a word?"

"Anthropomorphic. All yours, big guy."

It sounds like the dialogue is pretty good by any account.

I am disappointed that no one has mentioned that last night was a re-run of Gilmore Girls??? We were all excited to see Jess come back and slap some sense into Rory and it was a rerun.
Grrrrrrr

I was going to mention that, but I thought the combined fury of the Damfinobloggers might make something spontaneously combust and then mass chaos was going to come. I had a slightly uneasy feeling the other day when they said "in upcoming weeks on Gilmore Girls" rather than the normal "next week". I thought it was just saying that this was the direction things were going. Hopefully this doesn't mean we have to wait more than one week.

Bastards. I imagine all this crap is to do with sweeps. That's why Lost got pushed back, because they wanted 4 new eps during sweeps.

Booo!

My boyfriend Dylan spotted me some cash a few months ago and now he's bugging me about it. I can't get him off my back.

Did you try standing up?

Oh, the hilarity.

I loved Joss Whedon's review of VM in Entertainment Weekly. VM is a dark and twisted murder mystery with stories of adultery, incest, child abuse, and date rape. Welcome to the funniest show on tv.

Heh.
