"300" hits hard!

Holy crap!!! Ok - so you remember Zack Snyder who directed that cool new version of "Dawn of the Dead?" Well - he is back with an adaptation of Frank Miller's comic "300."

And... my god... the trailer is stunning!

Or head on over to apple here.

Also, there is a really cool production blog going on for the film here.

The trailer is cut to one of my favorite Nine Inch Nail tunes off of the Fragile disc. Damn - this film is gonna be a trip. I like the color differences that seem to throw back to "Sin City." Miller's material is definitely in the right hands.

Gilmore was pretty good this week - I laughed alot at Kirk's! Also liked seeing Luke take action and deck Chris. Actually, Luke is getting some of the juiciest stuff his character has ever done on the show.

Veronica Mars was pretty damn good - except for those opening credits... UGH!!!! How could they do that!?!?!?

I also noticed some interesting new camera stuff they are doing with GG. The long shot of Luke and Lor at the supermarket was cool.

Watched "thank you for smoking" last night. I like a good satire.

That shot on the street was different too!

They did a fast track zoom in - very new.

Sheriff - you and the mrs. need to watch Veronica Mars right after GG. The show needs as many viewers as possible. Just jump on!!

I was also going to comment on how I felt that the Girls were much better this week. I'll be happy if they make Rory a little sweeter and less self-involved, which is something I think Fino nailed last season when he mentioned what a brat she was becoming. I also noticed the new shots, which I thought were cool. I think it's this kind of stuff that the show really needs right now after this whole April debacle.

As far as 300, I don't have sound here, but I've read the graphic novel which was awesome. It's kind of interesting in Sin City(the film), that in the segment that Frank adapted from the book The Big Fat Kill which obviously predated 300, he already was a student of the battle of Thermopylae(sp?), which was kind of interesting to me.

I also must cop to being shocked that I didn't have abject hate for Snyder's reworking of Romero's Dawn of the Dead. My only gripe is that it's furthering the trend of fast zombies, which is anathema to most zombie fans.

By the way, any pix from the drunken revelry of last weekend's game?

No pics - the blood bath is scarred into my cerebellum!

Sounds like a Draconian good time!

Kern - you watch Veronica? If not - are you going to start?

I have not been indoctrinated into the club of Ms. Mars yet. It looks pretty good, but I have had some hardships in the DVD department as of late. My player's crapping out on me and I haven't had much time for extra viewing because of the book thing.

But I want to catch up. I gotta get a new player...

I just wanted to take a moment to jump on the Veronica opinion bandwagon. Opening credits sucked but the rest of the show was really good.

I especially liked the scene with Veronica all sweaty and breathing hard. It seems like I have seen that before. Oh wait, that was a dream....um, I'll be back in a minute.

Was she with Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel in that particular episode? Covered in hot fudge? I may have seen that one as well...

Opening credits are completely awful!! I loved the original credits and the song rocked!!

What the hell were they thinking?

What the hell is Devin doing?

Oooh - he is bendy!

Damfino said...

Ha ha... Kern talked about sex and mentioned fudge.

Are gay Kern jokes even cool anymore?

Fino-Gay Kern jokes are currently out.

Though then again, I could see Deit bringing them back into vogue.

For the record I'm making progress. It's been almost a year since the dreaded "Birkin Bag" post...
