worst. weekend. ever

What the hell just happened?!?! I left work - drove home - and a sh*t storm hit me.

Ok, so we all know Iowa got their butts kicked by State this weekend. That sucked - that really sucked. It was an unbelievable game, complete with Tate concussion and 0 touchdowns!! Josh, Dan and I just sat there in shock... unable to even get angry.

Add to this a major mom flip out - the Raiders losing (though that is more Dan's troubles) - a loss in Monopoly - a druken prank gone bad (I ended up passed out on the living room floor in my boxers) - and an overall sense of being a major loser!

Now, we arrive to Flag Football. First off, our shirts were screwed up. The above image is the front of the shirt, which is fine and dandy - but the backs were a completely different color (and the lady who made the shirts claimed WE chose two colors - crack whore!!). So, the shirts kinda suck!

Next, we arrive at the field to find that no other team has made shirts - so we kinda look like tools (take into account we are now in the Des Moines league - WDM league everyone had shirst made). Then the team we had to play arrived. Holy sh*t.

They had nearly 24 players on the team - 2 different offensive and defensive teams - a coach - and a slew of mouthy kids and fans. We got our asses handed to us 30-0. Half of our team stormed off in anger and the rest kind of befuddly wondered when we should practice again.

I wound up with a nice sized bruise on my leg (a 300 lb gorilla decided to see if my shin would break in two by kicking it!). It ruled!! Pics below.

The team meets and looks on in horror!

Jed is assured the other team is drunk and will fold easily (nothing like seeing a 40 sitting out in a park full of kids!)

Dan meets with the team to beg for mercy.

The Bags catch their breath in between touchdowns (by our opponents).

Is the game over? Or is this half-time?

That's it - I am done posting this crap. We will do much better next weekend... or I am taking up smoking crack again!

Yo

Maybe you smoked too much crack and that's the reason for your bad weekend.

Dude... I want a t-shirt. Yes that was to come off very whiney. To add to the fun that you already had this weekend. That is awesome

Morning all. Sorry about the horrific loss. What made you guys want to join the DM league instead?

Jed-Megann's husband really took the Iowa loss very badly(as her does with any Iowa loss)according to my dad. So you have sympathy all the way up in the Northern States. As football means nothing to me, I shrug and offer mine as well.

Other sports on the other hand, well, I had plenty to say on that subject at Listen, Listen. (hint hint).

There will hopefully be a new review tomorrow.

"Ooh a piece of candy! Ooh a piece of candy! Ooh a piece of candy..."

/actually did watch FG last night

Kern - Didn't Danica cause a massive wreck over the weekend because of poor driving? That was the word on ESPN this morning.

Kern said...

No, it wasn't her. It was Ryan Briscoe who is a rookie as well. He drives for Chip Ganassi. He got into the back of Alex Barron and flew over him into the safer barrier. The resulting fallout sent Barron into the grass, Kosuke Matsuura into the wall and Briscoe flying into wall in a flaming ball. It was insane.

Kern said...

One small note about Ryan Briscoe: He's really green. He caused a real problem in the last race. In fact, Briscoe screwed Danica and Helio Castroneves in a road race two weeks ago. He was impatient as all hell and cut across a corner he shouldn't have with two other cars beside him. He basically put all three of them out, and all three of them were had decent cars and considering how early it was in the race anything could have happened.

krysta jo said...

I don't particularly care for any of it - I just heard this morning they were discussing some of the race and Danica was blamed for a massive pile up that caused some hurt feelings and an angry driver.

Actually the score was 34-0. You need to outscore the other team 30-0 and they stop the game, but "Diamonds in the Ruff" had a 28-0 lead on us and then scored another touchdown (6) to make it 34-0. Yay

Anyway, does anyone know who we could call to have the Drake Bulldogs not play football in our Rec League?

I would file a complaint with the governor if I were you.

Damfino said...

Der... that's right. 34-0. Kill me.

krysta jo said...

You were hiding from me - I stopped by to say HOLA Como Estas.

I'm back. I would love to hear who said that about Danica. It really pisses me off that anytime there's a problem they just bring her up as a scapegoat. She wasn't anywhere near that wreck in the first place.

I suppose it's all a moot point, since I'm the only one who cares, but still...it's the principle of the thing.

Kern said...

I would like to hear more about Jed's drunken prank gone awry, as well. I bet that's something everyone here can get behind.

krysta jo said...

I would have to have seen the crash to make up my mind, but from what I hear, she isn't spectacular. But it doesn't matter to me. I am a beer guzzling, redneck NASCAR fan who enjoys seeing 30-50 cars on the track at one time and watching the winner try to cram all his sponsors into his thank you at the end of the race. And..let's not even get started on the fabulous-ness of football.

Kern said...

Hmm. While I respect the fact NASCAR exists, the fields are too crowded and the cars don't really interest me.

Danica is doing as well as any other rookie, especially considering her background was coming from Toyota Atlantics which is the feeder series for CART who run mostly road races. These cars are a lot bigger than she's used to. Being a woman is really a double edged sword for her because it's interesting, but people hate on her because of it.

So ends my rant. Apologies to all.

Now about Jed's drunken prank...

Damfino said...

Jed's drunken prank;

Step 1 - drink excessive amounts of Dead Guy ale and black and tans.

Step 2 - annoy your brother as he drives home late at night.

Step 3 - as he shuts off the car, steal the keys and run into the house - lock it up!

Step 4 - disregard Jerry screaming about being woken up - let Josh in and watch him drive away in a huff - proceed to strip for bed.

Step 5 - pull off covers of Josh's bed and take with pillows to basement - hide on living room floor and wait for Josh's return and angry fit.

Step 6 - pass out on floor in boxers - totally forget Josh having to take you upstairs to bed - avoid Jerry and his bitching for next few days.

krysta jo said...

What the hell??

Kern said...

Ha ha ha ha!!!

Nice work!

Ain't Right said...

I don't mean to continue the rant but I feel I must back up Kern, and Danica for that matter. She was no where near the wreck yesterday. Of everyone involved in the accident no one even mentioned her name. And just for the record, she IS a spectacular driver.

Alright I'm done. Sorry.

Kern said...

Thank you ain'tright! I agree that she's excellent. She had a pretty wonderful record overall in the Toyota Atlantics for the previous couple of years, and if anyone thinks Bobby Rahal would move someone to the IRL who he didn't think had a lot of potential, they are sadly mistaken. Her placement in the rankings is more reflective of how damn competitive the field is this year. Wheldon has been near flawless. Hell, that whole Andretti Green team is. She happens to be driving her rookie year against some of the toughest people the league has seen, and I think she's doing well all things considered.

Ain't Right said...

Yea, I think that most nay-sayers are just waiting for her to become the Anna Kornikova of IRL. I don't think that will happen because I think she has a better grip on reality than that.

On a completely different note. Jed, is this what I have to look forward to? Cool. But just so you know I would have taken pictures of you passed out to share with the good people of Damfinoblog.

Damfino said...

And that's why you are welcome in my kinky home.

Creepy Damfino out!

krysta jo said...

Wow --- I didn't mean to cause an uproar. I don't know Danica, don't watch that type of racing and don't really care. All I know is what I heard on SportsCenter this morning.

Sorry to have offended anyone.

Kern said...

Sorry KJ, I didn't mean to attack you, I just find that it's sad that even sports media can't find it in themselves to be reasonable journalists and report things that really happen. I guess since it's one of the few sports I have any knowledge about, when I have something to contribute I get a tad overzealous. It's all good.

Now let's all take a moment to unite by laughing about Jed's drunken failure while pranking Josh.

Buttercup said...

Agreeed.... Jed I am always up for a little bit of mocking especially of you!!! That was a prank? As long as I could hear you giggle like a school girl because you think you are so funny....how old are you 5.

Kern said...

Heh heh. I wish Josh had had the forethought to snap a few pics of you passed out on the floor. That would have made for some good blogging.

Kern said...

I meant that for Jed, by the way.

Damfino said...

Kern - your addendum is odd.

Drea - I was giggling and do often giggle like a 5 year old when doing pranks... it can't be helped.

If only I could have stayed concious for Josh's fit of finding his bed torn apart... but then again watching it from outside of my own body would have been funny too - cuz I am sure he found me and had major trouble with getting me upstairs... in fact, I am sure he dropped me a few times and enacted the scene from Ferris Bueller's Day Off that reminds us all of Josh.

Cameron "He'll keep calling me... this is ridiculous! I'll go I'll go I'll go... damit!"

Kern said...

Heh heh. That's pretty funny. Did Jer calm down after that?

Ain't Right said...

Krysta, I wasn't offended. I only chimed in to back up Kern. Your opinion of Danica is no concern of mine. I learned long ago that my obsession with all things automobile is generally yawn-worthy to the rest of the world. I, like Kern, was just amazed at the inaccuracy of their reporting. I meant no disrespect to you.

Kern said...

Anyone else hear crickets?
