Music and Movies?

I enjoy reading Kern's music corner articles and would like to extend an invite to Damfino to write a similar series of movie review/commentary articles. The Kreitners just watched Million Dollar Baby last night via Netflix and very much enjoyed it. Who else would enjoy movie insight from Damfino...I'm all in.....

Thanks to years of damfino training i enjoyed how MDB was filmed/shot/lighted as much as i enjoyed the journey of redemption it took me on.

I agree. I always enjoy my film discussions with Damfino, especially in regard to his reverence for older films in particular.

Sometimes I think Damfino loses sight of the enjoyment of watching a purely wretched film because he's so damn picky, but I still would enjoy some of his recommendations. MDB was definitely fantastic though painful to watch.

I still haven't seen it. I suck at life.

krysta jo said...

Alex, you simply must see it. It was a really great story and a great film. It really draws you in but there are some annoyances...mostly in the script.

Kern said...

Yes, it's on my list. The one downside to taking a trip is getting ready for one. I have at least two loads of laundry to do when I get home, especially so I have something nice to travel in.

krysta jo said...

Yikes - I hate that. I totally understand and am completely unprepared for New Orleans. Knowing me, I'll throw some clothes into a bag, leave and realize I left something important (like underwear or shoes) at home.

Kern said...

Yeah. I've got a lot of CD's to burn and laundry to do. Plus I have to get up at like quarter to 4 tomorrow. That's a good wakeup. I think I'll be so excited it won't be that hard to get up though.

You probably won't sleep much tonight. Besides, you can sleep on the plane.

Kern said...

Yeah, I try that, but with varying degrees of success.

Hello children of the blog,

Wanted to chime in here - though I am busy today and will bolt after this. I appreciate the Sheriff's encouragement to start piping in with a film review/recommendation section to go along with Kern's music gala. (props to the sheriff for making my heart swoon with his Luke-esque "all in" comment)

I am gonna say no; lemme explain. The Damfinoblog is kind of a nonsensical place in the web world - I want irreverance... I want oddity... immediacy... randomity (is that a word... Damfino cares not).

I want a spot where I can recount simple thoughts that run amok through my messy skull. For instance, I was admiring my sak this morning - wondering how others who get the privaledge to view it... feel about it. Does it impress... does it provide an insight into my personality.... does it remind them of a warm summers night?

Hmmmm.

Anywho - I guess I am saying this... movie comments will come no matter what - I am a full fledged geek. I just don't want any more parameters placed on this blog of freedom. I would rather see more random posts from others. KJ needs to provide more insights to her giddy world....

Perhaps Kern you could pull the reigns a tad - post once a week - give those others who are too shy to post over a chance to spit out private filth.

Get your swirve on kids!

Yo

Well spoke JF.....in the weeks and moths to follow i hope to provide indepth insites and complete coverage of your sak and the issues that affect your sak.

I am interested to hear why Jed-o thinks my world is giddy. Don't you worry though - I'll come back with photos and stories of wild times in New Orleans.

Damfino said...

And photos and stories of wild times tomorrow night... sans sak of course.

There is a time and place for everything.

Kern said...

Well, I just want to say two things. First, I only began posting music stuff once a day because I thought I nearly crashed the old blog there.

Secondly, I hope that my incessant posting did not come across as egocentric. Perhaps it's time to be a Jeffersons to Damfino's All In The Family, and move on up to a deluxe apartment in the sky. You can always post a link to the spin-off in question.

Fish don't fry in the kitchen, beans don't burn on the grill...

Can I be Tom Willis?

Playing the role of the bumbling, oafish white guy will be Gregory Kreitner....

Thank you...Thank you....

You know I married a black woman..fight the power...

SOLID!

Damfino said...

Franklin Cover is a saint - you would do well not to try to compare yourself to him mr. Sheriff.

The multiracial marriage that he represented on The Jeffersons was a major step forward for poor-stupid-white trash viewers.

I am afraid I am completely virgin to All in the Family... though I do embrace all references Family Guy makes to the series and chuckle as if I know what is going on.

Take heart Mr. Kern - your posts are loved by all.

By the way - since the Sheriff is not coming down for your celebration... I will be unable spoon. So, make sure you wash before bed time.

..... and the safety word is "paint chips"

Kern said...

Well, thank you, Mr. Damfino. I feel that in order to express myself to my fullest extent, perhaps having my own blog would be best. Do not fear, I would still spend the majority of my time posting here with my Damfino-friends. Please visit me anytime. An announcement will be forthcoming.

Oh yes, I'd like to add: I think I am perhaps the second coming of Mr. Bentley.

krysta jo said...

Oh my....

Just a note - I find myself unworthy of posting to my own blog most of the time. Good luck keeping up both blogs Alex!!! Your rants on music are always insightful and entertaining.

Cow talk rocks Jed...just because you don't know much about dairy cows and the wonders of farm life does not mean you can put down cows.

I'm noticing a trend here...

By the way, Jed, I was talking to Urnotme last night and I posted some of the CD's I'm trying to get burned for you guys. You might take a look and let me know if I missed anything you might want.
