News Damfino Will Likely Appreciate

As there is no new post up yet, I thought I would toss this little nugget out there since Jed was talking about how much fun he was having listening to Ryan Adams' Gold record the other day.[Note: Gold is Kern's second least favorite album of all of Ryan's material besides Rock and Roll. In fact, he wasn't sure if he would ever like anything else besides Heartbreaker until his last two albums. End rant.]

Anyhow, there is an article up at Pitchfork which has the release date of the brooding one's new album called 29 which is to be released on December 20th. That's a day after my birthday for those of you keeping score. It sounds like a damn dark record, and if that's the case Mr. Adams can officially consider his last three albums a hat trick in my book.

If you want to read the whole thing go here.

Nice pic Kern!!! Thanks man... Love is Hell is his worst stuff.. you should listen to Gold again.

Did you listen to all of Love is Hell, or just one of the parts?

I think the reason I am not a huge fan of Gold is that it just seems like he's trying to go classic rock, but it comes off a little too Middle of the Road.

Jed-What do you think of Jacksonville City Nights so far?

I've only had a chance to listen once, but not closely enough. I'm going to probably post a review of it next week, so it will be interesting to see how our views match up.

I bought the Loveis Hell - 16 track thing... combination of the two.

Jacksonville - good stuff.. but often you can feel tracks being rushed... some mistakes and odd parts are left in (I am sure this is retro or cool for the band... more real!) and it kind of takes me out of the music.

I still don't feel the musical pull that Heartbreaker and Gold hold. Gold just seems like the flip side of H - more upbeat... but still a crisp new sound that I am not used to... I don't know enough to know better I suppose.

Well, my friends who are Ryan-philes seem to think everything he does is brilliant. They looked at your blog the other day and applauded your choice in afternoon music. I should probably go back and listen to Gold again. I will say though, that there songs on side 4(the part of Gold you may not have) that are probably two of his best songs ever, one of which is The Fools We Are As Men. You should look for a way to hear side 4 if you haven't already...

I just want to leave work... no drinks... going to Grandma's.

I am going to want some drinks the way this week's been going. Christ almighty...

Jed, what did you think about the tribute to Porkins?

Devin told me all about it... very fine indeed.
