Scary or Sexy

With Halloween approaching us soon, I'm in the dilema of picking a costume. I was thinking what a better way to get some ideas than to ask the fine folks at the Damfinoblog. I would appreciate your opinions on what your favorite female costumes are. Thanks in advance for your help.

Do you have any pictures of yourself? Sometimes it's easiest to see who you resemble before figuring out who you want to be.

When I wear my glasses, I guess I could be Harry Potter, for example.

A very old, crochety Harry Potter, but that's beside the point.

Alex, go back to the posting about Jerry's birthday party. I'm in a few of those pictures. I'm the girl in the black and white top. Hope that helps.

I'll check it out and get back to you.

Well, I looked but my resolution here isn't so good. If I were to see a woman in a costume, by and large I kind of enjoy comic book themes myself, but that's the utter geek in me.

What kinds of things do you like normally? Are you looking more for a celebrity kind of thing or a frightening kind of thing?

Funny side note, I hold the record of having three years of the dorkiest costumes in elementary school. And what's worse, is that I chose them myself. From third to fifth grade I went as a computer, a Calvin and Hobbes book, and Peter Jennings respectively. Yes, I did say Peter Jennings.

I'm not sure what I am looking for. I don't think I would like the frightening thing. A celebrity kind of thing maybe fun.

The tricky part with these things is that you want to do someone that's not been done to death, but not something so obsure that people are going to keep asking what you're supposed to be.

I just had a thought. Have you ever read the comic book The Sandman? It's got one of the coolest female characters ever, Death of the Endless. It would be relatively easy to do, with a little white makeup and it looks like you have dark hair already. Get an ankh necklace and you'd be good to go. I can point you to some artistic references of her if it would help. But I think that would be awesome!

Sorry, I haven't read many comic books. I would definitely need to see a picture first. By the way, I have dark brown hair with blonde highlights.

I'll try to find one for you. It may not work so well due to the blonde highlights anyhow. But let me see if I can find you something.

Here's one: Death From Sandman

I couldn't open it. I will do some research later.

I checked out some pictures. That would have been good but my hair style doesn't work so. Thanks for the idea though.

No problem. If I can think of anything else I'll let you know.

I think I have dressed up every year since I was old enough to trick - or - treat. Here are some of my past costumes:

Cat (several times, easy costume)
A Present
A Car Accident Victim
Devil
Hippie
Princess
Butterfly
Vampire
Bumble Bee ( this was fun )

Good Luck.
