I'm your son of rage... and love

Ya know - it has been a year since "American Idiot" came out - and it seems that I still see Green Day everywhere everyday! That is pretty damn impressive for a band that just a few years ago was written off completely.

This weekend we head out to see the band for the second time this year! I have seen them once before - their shows have been unbelievable and I am sure this weekend will be just as good. The only sad part is - I am not very excited about it. I guess, the earlier Cedar Rapids show just kind of vibrated with the fresh sound of the album... and now that everyone has heard it (over and over and over), I am just not as thrilled as I should be!

The coolest part about this weekends show is that my little brother will be attending. I am excited to see how he handles a live show - and what experience he will take from it! Plus, it will be cool that his first concert will be with me!

I still put in the album once and a while - but it resonates with me on a personal level. I never really dove into the political reading in it - rather taking the high road and reading the lyrics as the journey of a boy and a girl and the world that beats them around. Sadly, I do have to skip the hits "Boulevard" - "Holiday" - "September"... they will also drag at the show ("Boulevard almost brought things to a screeching halt in Cedar Rapids!!).

Sounds like a semi-mellow weekend. Jer is throwing a shindig tonight - and sunday is another forray into the world of East side football. Full report Monday (also - the season premiere of Arrested Development!!!!!).

They played Christe Rd when I saw them in Wisconsin. Of course they always play "All I know is that I don't know" every show.

"We've got a surfboard in the shot!"

"Hermano!"

Congrats on the young Findlay's first concert experience. I remember my first concert. Ozzy Osbourne with Ugly Kid Joe and Slaughter at the Riverport Amphitheatre in St. Louis. If that sounds familiar it's where Axl went all diva and jumped out in the crowd inciting a riot. Good times.

I am stoked about AD. I'm not as good with tv and film quotes as Jed and the Sheriff, but I also drool with anticipation at the further antics and misadventures of the Bluth family. Or maybe I just like staring at Ellen's girlfriend. Probably all of the above.

Also, new review complete with sound samples at Listen, Listen.
